Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault) (15:48): Today Wiripaang Public School celebrates its tenth birthday. To mark the double-digit milestone, the school hosted a special assembly, open to the community, featuring dancers, music and, of course, delicious cake.
The Wiripaang school community also introduced a time capsule to be opened in 50 years. The capsule included mementos of life at the school including pictures of the students, letters to future selves and predictions about what life might be like in 2073.
Led by principal Julie Low, Wiri—as the school is known in my patch—has seen a growth in attendance, an improvement in results and the development of strong ties between the school and local community.
Principal Low greets families at the front gate every day, while her deputy welcomes students and parents arriving at the back gate. Wiri is a fantastic local school and an important part of the local community.
To principal Low, her staff, students and families, I say thank you and happy birthday to Wiripaang Public School. Here's to many more.
