Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)— It was my pleasure to the attend the 2023 NSW Minister's and Secretary's Awards for Excellence on 5 September, celebrating the achievements of outstanding schools, students, staff and teachers from across the state.
It was especially pleasing to see Whitebridge High School receive a Secretary's Award for an Outstanding School Initiative, which is presented to NSW public schools that demonstrate their commitment to building a sustainable learning environment with the development and use of a specific program. Whitebridge was recognised by the VET Student Pathways for the Future program, which has been a game changer for students at the school.
With an innovative curriculum model that increases student engagement through a skills focus and direct industry credentialling, the program actively engages young people, employers and the broader community. From high achievers to those requiring additional support, the program ensures students are on track for a successful future. My thanks to Whitebridge High School principal Nadene Harvey and her team on introducing and running this fantastic program, and my congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!
