Warners Bay's Public Sensory Garden is 'best in show'

23 February 2022

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown)—My congratulations to the students of the Warners Bay Public School "Green Team", who created an innovative sensory garden which took out the "Best in Show" category at the Allambi Care School Garden Bed Competition in 2021.

With tin can chimes, hubcap flowers and spoons sprouting form the soil, the garden is not what you'd call typical—but it sure shows off the imagination and creativity of Warners Bay students!

With an explosion of colour and shapes utilising three-dimensional space, including a forest of spoons called "Spoonville @ WBPS", the garden is beautiful and unique and well deserving of being named Best in Show! The Allambi Care School Garden Bed Competition is run by Lake Macquarie City Council and is aimed at encouraging students to think more deeply about their local environment, while building skills in gardening, sustainable design and upcycling.

The Warners Bay Public school community is always looking for ways to help improve our beautiful area, and I want to congratulate the Green Team, the school staff and the entire community on this well-deserved win.
