Today I gave a Notice of Motion in the Parliament of New South Wales aboutthe Government's refusal to adequately support isolated and remote families who are educating early learners.
I am concerned that in our current drought families in remote areas are being deserted by the Government.
This is the text of the Motion:
NOTICE OF MOTION
Ms Harrison says
Mister SPEAKER:
I give notice that on the next sitting day I will move that this House:
Notes that last month I met with Ms Claire Butler, President of the Isolated Childrens Parents Association and a delegation from the Association;
Notes that the already challenging task for parents of educating their children in remote locations has been made harder because of the pressures of the current drought;
Notes that the Associations requests for additional support for travel subsidies and computers to assist parents to educate their pre-school aged children in remote locations has been denied by the Berejiklian Government;
And calls upon the Government to stop deserting these isolated families and give them the modest support that they need.
