Today I gave a Notice of Motion in the Parliament of New South Wales about the Australian Childrens Education and Care Quality Authority. I am concerned that ACECQA's funding is currently ending on 30th June 2020, and I want the Government to put pressure on the Federal Government to continue the funding to maintain our national quality standards framework in Early Childhood Learning.

I give notice that on the next sitting day I will move that this House:




Notes that last week I met with Ms Gabrielle Sinclair, Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Childrens Education and Care Quality Authority;


Notes ACECQAs important work with all State and Territory governments to deliver the National Quality Framework across long day care, family day care, preschool, kindergarten, and outside school hours care services;


Notes the central role of the National Quality Framework in raising quality and driving continuous improvement in the early childhood learning sector;


Notes that the Federal Morrison Government is yet to announce any plans to continue funding ACECQA beyond 30th June 2020;


And calls on the Berejiklian Government to unequivocally confirm its support for the National Quality Framework and the continuing funding of ACECQA.
