Tonight I was able to bring to the attention of Parliament the growth of the Warners Bay AFL Club in a Community Recognition Statement:



I congratulate the Warners Bay Australian Football Club on the tremendous growth of its sporting community in recent years.

Due to the dedication of the committee the club has grown from four junior teams in 2012 to fifteen this season. It had seven teams in finals this year and five making grand finals. In 2019 the club had a 12 per cent increase in junior registrations, with an incredible 30percent growth in female registration. I am especially proud of the significant growth in female membership at the club.

It is important that we encourage young women and girls to enjoy physical activity as research shows that they can be less likely to participate in sport than young men.

I congratulate the Warners Bay Australian Football Club committee for its hard work and dedication over many years that has led the club to achieve these fantastic results.
