Today I rise to pay tribute to Mrs Helen Wood of Redhead.
I was recently contacted by Helens son-in-law, John, who relayed several stories of Helens selfless contribution to her community at The Sanctuary, Redhead.
Helen is the prime carer for her husband of over sixty years- Reg. Unfortunately, Reg is doing it tough at the moment with four cancers, emphysema and diabetes.
At 83, Helen not only cares for Reg, but also others at the Sanctuary.
Not long ago, a neighbour of Helens rang her quite distressed as she was unable to stop bleeding.
Helen, not without her own health issues, responded immediately and was able to apply pressure and bandage to the leg of her neighbour.
The ambulance was delayed, however when it finally arrived Paramedics commended Helen on her first aid work and ultimately saving her neighbours life.
I commend Helen for her remarkable emergency response, and for her significant contribution to the Sanctuary community.
