Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown)— Women's Shed on the Lake is an inclusive group for women of all ages based out of the amazing Our Community Place neighbourhood centre in Windale.
They are enthusiastic about becoming involved in and helping out with community projects, offering a place for local women to become involved in and learn more about Do It Yourself projects.
The Women's Shed provides a safe place for women to socialise and work together on their health, well-being, craft and more. They are driven by the words "Sharing, Caring, Empowering", and we can see that vision being carried out in the activities they have organised recently.
In May, the Women's Shed held a jewellery and knitting bee; a High Tea in support of the Cancer Council; a Mother's Day cruise on the MV Lady Mac; and got involved in the 2022 Waste to Art Competition. The important work of the Womens Shed wouldn't be possible without the volunteers who run their programs, the engagement of their members, and of course the wonderful staff of Our Community Place.
My thanks to all those involved!
A Community Recognition Notice is an opportunity for an MP to submit a short statement praising the work of an individual or group in the local community. If you have any ideas about people I can recognise with a Community Recognition Notice, please email and let me know!
