KIRSTEN ANSELL

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown) — I am pleased to again recognise local constituent Kirsten Ansell, founder of the not for profile Host-A-Surfer for her enduring commitment to progressing and supporting women's equality in not only surfing but all female athletes in the Hunter Region. Host-a-Surfer has evolved from offering female surfers a temporary home with a host family to now offering young female athletes a comprehensive well-being program where leaders from diverse fields offer guidance and knowledge to participants. Host-a-Surfer ambassadors, led by senior ambassador and professional surfer Phillipa Anderson, encourage all female athletes to adopt a holistic approach to their chosen sport. Across a range of sports, including surfing, Host-a-Surfer ambassadors are encouraging young women to excel in their particular sports through their involvement in seminars on diet, nutrition, mental health fitness and choosing the right coach. Kirsten has forged a clear path to participation and success for young sportswomen in the Hunter.
