Recognising Annabella Sydes

17 February 2022

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown): One of the highlights of my job is attending end‑of‑year celebrations at schools. Unfortunately, over the past couple of years I have not been able to go to as many, which is why I was especially thrilled to get a chance in early December last year to go to Charlestown Public School's presentation day and personally present year 6 student Annabella Sydes with a Community Service Award.

Annabella was nominated for this award because she is a role model for her peers for her behaviour, integrity and willingness to help others. She has shown great sportsmanship at school carnivals throughout the year, has excelled as a kindergarten buddy and is always volunteering to help others.

The outpouring of support and love for Annabella on social media was so inspiring to see, and it was my absolute pleasure to present Annabella with a certificate and book voucher. She is an absolute delight. I hope she enjoyed some well-deserved fun over the holidays, and I wish her all the very best as she settles into high school.

A Community Recognition Notice is an opportunity for an MP to submit a short statement praising the work of an individual or group in the local community. If you have any ideas about people I can recognise with a Community Recognition Notice, please email and let me know!
