This being National Reconciliation Week with the theme Grounded in Truth, Walk Together with Courage I want to take this opportunity to commend Mission Australia Early Learning Mount Hutton for their unwavering commitment and contribution to a more inclusive and understanding community.

Mission Australia Early Learning Centre instigates recognition and inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Islander culture among the young children in their care through their five learning goals:

1. A strong sense of identity;

2. Connections with the world;

3. A strong sense of wellbeing;

4. Confidence and involvement in their learning and;

5. Effective communication skills.

They are embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture in to their daily practice through involving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in their staffing and programming.

I especially commend Centre Director Paige Smith, and Educator Marion Taylor for their leadership in driving this cultural practice.

Hopefully their work will bring us closer to full reconciliation
