Charlestown is home to the exceptionally beautiful and popular Redhead beach.

Of course, with every beautiful beach, comes the need for beach patrol to keep visitors safe.

As the patrolling season has come to an end, I want to take this time to thank our surf lifesavers for their hard work over a tough season.

I particularly want to acknowledge the work of past President of Redhead Surf Lifesaving Club, Mike McKey.

Mikes outstanding leadership has contributed to Redhead Surf club being very highly regarded at both State and National levels.

As a surf lifesaver for many years himself, Mike has selflessly volunteered his time to keeping the swimmers, board riders and general users of Redhead beach safe.

He has been, and continues to be an intrinsic part of the well organised, strong vibrant club that is Redhead Surf Life Saving Club a club with over 600 nippers.
