Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown)—In the run-up to Christmas, I spent some time with the amazing volunteers at Charlestown & District Meals on Wheels. I was happy to help out, dishing out crumbed fish to go with hot chips, peas and carrots, alongside meals of delicious thick sausages, onion gravy and vegies.
Christmas can be a difficult time for many people and, while Meals and Wheels is always appreciated, their activities are especially welcomed during the holiday season. Meals on Wheels is such an important part of our Charlestown electorate community, helping to ensure frail-aged locals are kept well-supplied with nutritionally balanced meals.
Especially at this time of year, they help spread some joy and community spirit. I cannot thank them enough! A big thank you to all the volunteers and staff for everything they do. I would particularly like to acknowledge Charlestown & District coordinator Kathy Jenkins. I look forward to joining Kathy, her team and the volunteers again in the future.
A Community Recognition Notice is an opportunity for an MP to submit a short statement praising the work of an individual or group in the local community. If you have any ideas about people I can recognise with a Community Recognition Notice, please email and let me know!
