Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)— Congratulations to Matisse Murray, one the outstanding 2024 school captains at Whitebridge High School in the Charlestown Electorate. On Tuesday 13 September, Matisse took some time out from her preliminary exams study to represent the school at the Charlestown Lions Club Youth of the Year competition.
Matisse was interviewed by a panel of four judges and was then required to respond to two impromptu questions before delivering a prepared speech. Matisse was asked about her knowledge of the referendum on the Aboriginal Voice to Parliament—and she gave a wonderfully powerful speech about women in sport, which is a very timely topic.
Matisse was awarded the first place in the Public Speaking part of the competition and to top this off she was also awarded first place in the Charlestown Lions Club Lions Youth of the Year. She will now go on to the next round of this competition, and I wish her all the best. Congratulations Matisse, and good luck with the HSC!
