Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I'd like to acknowledge the recent Hunter Renters' Forum, which gave local renters the chance to come together, share their stories, and discuss rental reforms. Hosted by the Hunter Tenants Advice and Advocacy Service and the Tenants' Union of NSW, this event was such an important opportunity to really listen to the experiences of those who rent in our community. It was wonderful to hear that the NSW Rental Commissioner, Trina Jones, and her team from Fair Trading NSW were there to share insight into much-needed rental reforms. Participants at the forum were particularly grateful for progress towards ending no-grounds evictions, capping rent increases, and making sure tenants have fair, fee-free ways to pay rent. This forum represents a critical step toward a fairer rental system, addressing issues like access to home, affordability, and the impact of energy climate. I would like to thank everyone involved, especially those who shared their personal experiences—it's conversations like these that help us build a better future for renters across our community.
