Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown): On Monday 10 October students from St. Kevin's Primary School, Cardiff, joined us at Parliament House and staged a mock Parliament where they debated the Extension of School Hours Bill. I was lucky to join them to watch the debate.
Tyler stood in for the Premier with Rilan serving as Leader of the Opposition. Ava led the debate as Minister for Education for the Government, while Jack, the shadow Minister for Education, led for the Opposition. Additional speakers included Leon, Matilda, Evelyn, Angus, Nate and Cain.
My thanks to the St. Kevin's parliamentary staff, including Speaker Mackenzie, Clerk Cameron and Sergeant-at-arms Patrick for helping to ensure the debate was conducted in an orderly manner. I wish sometimes that we had these students here all the time. It was great to meet these budding future leaders and to hear their views.
