Extraordinary work underway at Warners Bay Sustainable Neighbourhood Group

18 May 2022

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown)— Anyone who visits the Warners Bay area can see the extraordinary work of the Warners Bay Sustainable Neighbourhood Group.

I've mentioned them and their tireless efforts to regenerate and beautify Warners Bay in the Parliament before, and I'm so pleased the Sustainable Neighbourhood Group has also been recognised by the City of Lake Macquarie!

Warners Bay Sustainable Neighbourhood Group was one of seven finalists for Lake Mac Environmental Leader at the 2022 Lake Mac Awards. Lake Mac Environmental Leader recognises outstanding demonstration of leadership skills and contribution to the Lake Macquarie environment, and in delivering exceptional opportunities for community connection and facilitating environmentally sustainable behaviours, the Warners Bay Sustainable Neighbourhood Group has more than earned their nomination.

Their Repair Café initiative has helped mend more than 300 items, diverting them away from landfill—and the Sustainable Neighbourhood Group has delivered more than thirty public events since 2017.This all comes down to the thousands of volunteer hours members have put in. Great work, guys.

A Community Recognition Notice is an opportunity for an MP to submit a short statement praising the work of an individual or group in the local community. If you have any ideas about people I can recognise with a Community Recognition Notice, please email and let me know!
