Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)— Congratulations to Dudley Redhead Senior Football Club on the opening of its new, fully accessible, entry and amenities at Lydon Oval, Dudley.
Established in 1896, Dudley Redhead Senior Football Club is one of the oldest clubs in Newcastle and it is always looking for ways to support its community. The new facilities were officially opened at a ceremony on 26 March with a crowd of the football club's supporters in conjunction with the Spider Jones Cup.
It is wonderful to see local clubs recognising the benefits of accessible amenities for people living with a disability and proactively working towards finding solutions. A big shout out to Sharron Walker, grant finder extraordinaire!
I had the pleasure of cutting the ribbon on the day with Kobe, a local football enthusiast who loves to come and see her mum play. Now her wheelchair can access the grounds much more easily and she can cheer on her Mum's team on from the sidelines. The launch was at the start of what will hopefully be a very successful 2023 season for the Dudley Redhead Senior Football Club.
A Community Recognition Notice is an opportunity for an MP to submit a short statement praising the work of an individual or group in the local community. If you have any ideas about people I can recognise with a Community Recognition Notice, please email and let me know!
