Today I rise to congratulate and praise the selfless and tireless efforts of our volunteer surf lifesavers.
While attending the Annual General Meeting of Redhead surf lifesaving club on August 5, a young child suffered a seizure while playing with his father on the sand.
Despite the lifesaving season being in recess, when the lifesavers in the club house saw what was happening, they automatically reverted to their life saving duties.
They rushed to the young boys aid and, luckily a doctor also happened to be on the beach, and responded with the Redhead volunteers.
They quickly placed him in recovery mode until an ambulance arrived and took him to hospital.
The volunteer lifesavers provide an invaluable service on our beaches not only during the Spring and Summer seasons as was demonstrated on that Sunday morning.
I am glad to report that the young boy is well thanks to the skills and training these lifesavers have received as members of this incredible community organisation.
