It gives me great satisfaction to contribute to the debate on the Civil Liability Amendment (Institutional Child Abuse) Bill 2017, which has been brought tothe Legislative Assemblyby the shadow Attorney General and Member for Liverpool. The object of this bill is to impose a duty of care on certain institutions to make them liable for institutional child abuse by persons associated with the institution, unless the institution proves it took reasonable steps to pre vent the abuse.
