Charlestown South Public named ambassador school

23 March 2022

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown)—I would like to offer my warmest congratulations to Charlestown South Public School. It has been named one of ten "ambassador schools", high-performing public schools that will be studied by the NSW Education Department to see what makes it work so well.

These schools have the "X-factor", they are achieving outstanding academic results well above the performance of other schools in similar circumstances. The schools were selected based on high performance across a range of measures like NAPLAN reading and numeracy targets.

The Charlestown electorate is blessed with extraordinary public schools, and it's the staff and the communities that makes them so special—and this well-deserved recognition proves that Charlestown South is the epitome of that quality! Once again, I would like to congratulate to principal Colin Johnson, his staff, students and the whole Charlestown South school community on this recognition—and the hard work that has made it possible.

I have been lucky enough to be in the classroom at Charlestown South to see how innovative teaching and learning is taking place, so I'm incredibly pleased to see this work being recognised.

A Community Recognition Notice is an opportunity for an MP to submit a short statement praising the work of an individual or group in the local community. If you have any ideas about people I can recognise with a Community Recognition Notice, please email and let me know!
