Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—The last weekend of April marked the kick-off of community football season, and I want to acknowledge and thank Charlestown Electorate soccer clubs.
Community sport is so important, offering an opportunity for people of all ages to come together and exercise, build friendships and expand their horizons. We know the benefits that community sport has for those who get involved on and off the field, and it's great to see so many clubs around the electorate building active memberships.
It is particularly gratifying to see clubs build on the success of women's sporting events both here in Australia and around the world to bring more women and girls into the sport.
I want to acknowledge Cardiff City Football Club, Charlestown Junior Football Club, Dudley Redhead United Football Club, Garden Suburb Football Club, Kahibah Football Club, Kotara South Football Club, New Lambton Football Club Juniors, South Cardiff Community Football Club and Warners Bay Football Club.
I wish local clubs, including players, coaches, referees, volunteers and supporters, all the best for the 2024 season.
A Community Recognition Notice is an opportunity for an MP to submit a short statement praising the work of an individual or group in the local community. If you have any ideas about people I can recognise with a Community Recognition Notice, please email and let me know!
