Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—One of the privileges of being a Member for Parliament is meeting the truly remarkable people in our communities making a difference in the lives of others. Many of these people would regard themselves as just ordinary women and men who are doing their bit to make the world a better place, but because of their generosity and giving, they make an extraordinary contribution to their communities. When I met with the staff and volunteers at the Charlestown Caring Group recently, I witnessed first-hand what this extraordinary contribution looks like. The Group provides a range of services and supports to seniors and people with disability and their families and carers. Their dedicated staff embody compassion and professionalism, and they have a cohort of volunteers, many of whom are retired but still want to make a contribution to their communities. To all the marvellous team at Charlestown Caring Group, thank you for all that you do for the people of Charlestown.
A Community Recognition Notice is an opportunity for an MP to submit a short statement praising the work of an individual or group in the local community. If you have any ideas about people I can recognise with a Community Recognition Notice, please email and let me know!
