Cancer survivor Jacob Cooper a three times CR4K runner

25 May 2023

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)— Cancer survivor Jacob Cooper has achieved a remarkable feat – he has now completed the 150km Charlie's Run 4 Kids event three times. And he is only 21 years of age.

It was only in 2016 that Jacob and his family were the recipients of Charlie's Run 4 Kids' fundraising efforts. It was during his second battle with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and the donations helped support Jacob and his family during that very tough time. Fives years on from a bone marrow transplant, Jacob was cancer free.

At just 18 years old, he signed on to be a full-time CR4K runner. Over five days, the group runs the 150km from Seal Rocks to Dudley. Jacob was one of 30 full time runners to take part in the 2023 event.

Now in its 10th year, Charlie's Run 4 Kids has raised more than $1 million for local families facing childhood cancer. It is no surprise that Jacob has thrown himself wholeheartedly into the charity. At just 12 years old, he wrote a book about his cancer journey in the hope it would help others facing the same challenges. Congratulations to Jacob on his wonderful achievement for Charlie's Run 4 Kids.
