Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown)—Cancer Council NSW is a wonderful resource for people in the Charlestown electorate and across the state who are going through cancer treatments or are seeking support for a loved one. Just one of these supports is the Cancer Council's Information and Support line, which provides a range of supports, from the very first steps in the journey to coping with treatments and emotional support.
On 7 September, I was visited by the wonderful Susan Russell, community program coordinator for Cancer Council NSW. Susan is an experienced community worker, with a strong background in developing community campaigns, and it was great to catch up with her when she delivered the Cancer Council's MP information pack.
I want to acknowledge the importance of delivering this information directly to MPs—by working together, we can reach so many people and share the supports available. Every person's cancer journey is different, but they are all difficult. Easing that burden however we can is important and valuable. I want to thank Susan, and all the people in the Charlestown electorate who contribute to Cancer Council NSW's vital work.
A Community Recognition Notice is an opportunity for an MP to submit a short statement praising the work of an individual or group in the local community. If you have any ideas about people I can recognise with a Community Recognition Notice, please email and let me know!
