Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)— I am a long-term, passionate supporter of Central Newcastle Rugby League Football Club—the mighty Butcher Boys and Butcherbirds! I was so proud to see the Butcherbirds run onto the field at Lakeside Sporting Complex at Raymond Terrace on Saturday 9 September against the Newcastle University Seahorses.
It was a chance for the Butcherbirds to bring home another title! It was a fantastic grand final match, and while the Butcherbirds fell agonisingly short of clinching the title after a field goal in the late stages of Golden Point. Their success has been a shining light during the 2023 season, and as the Club has said they have well and truly laid the blueprint for continued success. I could not be prouder of the Butcherbirds. What an amazing season for the side. Congratulations on what you've achieved in 2023, and I can't wait to see what's next. Up the Blue n Whites!
