Please watch my 2017/18 Budget reply speech.
Too often the concerns of Hunter residents are ignored while decision makers in Sydney pander to the big end of town. The 2017/18 NSW State budget is a reflection of the systematic failure of the Government which continues to leave our most vulnerable community members without reliable transport, housing, security, and education while Sydney enjoys the benefits of newly built stadiums with air-conditioned corporate boxes and fewer seats.
Key issues:
- The privitisation of Newcastle Buses
- No significant funding for an upgrade for Hillsborough Rd
- A significant school maintenance backlog
- Cuts to TAFE
- The dodgy sale of Newcastle Port
- A committment of $2.2billion to sports stadia
- Social Housing maintenance and accessability
- Housing affordability
