NAIDOC Week celebrations are held around the country each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The week is celebrated not just in our Indigenous communities but alsoby anincreasing number of government agencies, community organisations, local councils, workplaces, schools and sporting groups.
You can get involved by attending the following events:
Wednesday 11 July:
Harry Hartog Aboriginal storytelling
Time: 10.30am
Where: In store at Harry Hartog Booksellers, Westfield Kotara

Flag raising ceremony & morning tea
Time: 10am - 12pm
Where: Lake Macquarie City Council Administration Building,
126-134 Main Road, Speers Point
Friday 13_15 July:
Free art weaving classes
Time: 10am, 11am, 12pm & 1pm each day (Classes last for 30 mins)
Where: Level 2 near H&M and Swarovski, Charlestown Square
Saturday 14 July:
Kids art appreciation workshop
Time: 10am 2pm
Where: Level 2, outside The Tea Centre, Westfield Kotara
Sunday 15 July:
Kids Aboriginal weaving workshop
Time: 10am 2pm
Where: Level 2, outside The Tea Centre, Westfield Kotara
Friday 20 July:
Eastlakes NAIDOC Event withmusic,kids activities and a free bbq
When: 10am - 3pm
Where: Pelican Foreshore Park
