The Queen's Scout Award is the highest honour that can be earned by a Venturer.
Venturers are Scouts aged 14-17, open to all regardless of gender, with a focus on community involvement, personal growth, leadership development, study/life balance and, of course, adventure and responsible risk taking.
In NSW Parliament this week, Jodie Harrison MP recognised Kotara Venturer Lillian Harding, who recently earned the honour.
Lillian's journey to the award included taking on physically demanding challenges and designing changes for a sustainable future.
"It was my pleasure to help celebrate this amazing young woman's achievement with her troop on April 6," Ms Harrison said.
"Some of the highlights of Lillian's achievements on her way to her Queen's Scout Award, include leading a 3-day expedition along the Six Foot Track, mountain biking in the Snowy Mountains and caving in New Zealand.
"Lillian has also been involved in a STEM Defence and Innovation project designing green power technology, which she is keen to continue to develop.
"I met Lillian and was blown away by an extraordinary young woman who has already achieved so much. This is a well‑deserved award, and I am sure Lillian will continue to make our community so proud."
