Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown)—On Saturday 14 May, Fire and Rescue NSW Station 255 Charlestown held their Open Day for the general public—including the local MP!
I went along to 225 Station's Open Day joining in with the crowds who came along to take learn more about the role of firefighters and fire safety. It was an opportunity to learn more about safety and keeping all of our families safe this winter.
I can confirm that you never outgrow the delight you feel standing next to a bright red fire engine. Open Day was particularly important for one member of the 255 Station team. Acting Superintendent Troy Kempnitch visited 255 Station to award retained firefighter Mark Hackenberg with his fifteen years of service clasp.
Mark is also a paramedic, which is proof of his commitment and dedication to helping people in the darkest moments of their lives.
All of our firies show extraordinary bravery, day-in and day-out, and I'd like to thank the team at Station 255 Charlestown for being so welcoming to myself and the Charlestown community. Thank you all for your service.
