It's always a pleasure to catch up with the hardworking hands at Charlestown Rotary Club.
Jodie Harrison MP recently met with Charlestown Rotarians Ben Chard, Ted Aitchison and Dennis Hancock to discuss their ongoing partnership with OzHarvest and hear about the exciting success of their youth opportunity program Life Kitchen - Life Skills.
"My thanks to Ben, Ted, Dennis and Charlestown Rotary for all the work they do. The hours of work put in by the volunteers at Rotary are making a big difference in our community," Ms Harrison said.
"It's especially fantastic to see the fruits of their partnership with OzHarvest, given that both organisations are such an important part of our local community."
On Friday 23 June, Ms Harrison attended a ceremony recognising the achievements of the latest round of participants in the OzHarvest Nourish Program.
The program trains and mentors young locals through a Certificate II in Kitchen Operations at PCYC Lake Macquarie.
"I'm pleased to report that the results are absolutely delicious, and I would like to congratulate the trainees on their hard work," Ms Harrison said.
"I hope your new found cooking skills are put to very good use in the future!"
The program makes use of the new nourish kitchen garden installed at the Lake Macquarie PCYC, a combined project between OzHarvest and the Rotary Club of Charlestown.
