JODIE HARRISON CONDEMNS THE GOVERNMENT ON ITS FAILURE TO FUND HILLSBOROUGH ROAD
Member for Charlestown, Jodie Harrison has condemned the Berejiklian Government for its failure to provide any funding in todays budget to fix the notoriously dangerous Hillsborough Road.
Hillsborough Road is one of the busiest roads in the Hunter and a choke point for traffic travelling between Newcastle and Lake Macquarie, Ms Harrison said.
The residents of Hillsborough struggle to get in and out of their suburb on a daily basis because of the traffic congestion along Hillsborough Road, she said.
I have elderly residents calling me saying they fear for their lives trying to cross the road to get to the bus stop.
I have been calling on this Government to provide funds in their budget for the last five years to fix Hillsborough Road.
I am now calling on the new Minister for Regional Roads to stop ignoring the people of the Charlestown electorate and come and see first-hand the problems my constituents encounter each day and to fix the traffic and safety issues on this road.
