LABOR FOR HEALTH

07 February 2019

Only Labor will invest in our health system instead of splurging $2.2 billion on rebuilding perfectly good stadiums in Sydney. These are our policies:

NURSE TO PATIENT RATIOS

Its shameful that the Government allows hospitals to be understaffed while pouring $2.2 billion into Sydney stadiums. A Labor Government willwill deliver 250 more nurses in regional NSW through new nurse to patient ratios. This includes a hospital frequented by Charlestown constituents- Belmont Hospital.

Q FEVER STRATEGY

A Daley Labor Government will fund 8,000 vaccinations for at-risk residents in rural and regional NSW as part of its $4 million commitment to combat Q fever.Q fever is a bacterial infection that can cause a severe flu-like illness. Under this policy, Labor will extend the existing vaccinations of workers in key industries as well as young students and teachers in agricultural colleges, all of whom should be vaccinated but are often not.

LABOR TO INCREASE NUMBER OF 24 HOUR PHARMACIES

Our region has ZERO 24hr pharmacies.NSW Labor will provide $5 million over three years to assist with the operation of five more 24/7 pharmacies, covering the cost of a:

Pharmacist
Pharmacy assistant
Security guard between the hours of 11pm and 6am

MORE SECURITY STAFF FOR NSW HOSPITALS

Labor pledges to provide an extra 250 security staff at hospitals across NSW. This policy will protect patients, doctors, nurses and health workers in our health and hospital system.

RESTORING DISABILITY ADVOCACY FUNDING

These disability advocacy services support the social, economic, and physical wellbeing of people living with disabilities. From July 2018, around 50 disability advocacy services, information providers and peak representational organisations faced losing their NSW Government funding. They were given a stay ofexecution with a further two years of funding provided. NSW Labor will fund them permanently.
