14 November 2019

This morning I was delighted to welcome Mayors and Council Officers to the Parliament of New South Wales. The local government officials were at Parliament for the Board meeting of the Hunter Joint Organisation.

The Hunter Joint Organisation represents ten member councils from the Hunter region; Cessnock City Council, Dungog Shire Council, Lake Macquarie City Council, MidCoast Council, Maitland City Council, Muswellbrook Shire Council, Newcastle City Council, Port Stephens Council, Singleton Council, and Upper Hunter Shire Council.

I was particularly pleased to welcome Councillor Nuatali Nelmes, Lord Mayor of Newcastle, and Councillor Kay Fraser, Mayor of Lake Macquarie, as well as Councillor Bob Pynsent, the Mayor of Cessnock and Chair of the Hunter Joint Organisation.

This is the second occasion on whichthe Hunter Joint Organisationhave met at Parliament Houseto highlight the importance of the relationship between Local and State Government.
