Jodie Supports Fern Creek Landcare Team Leader Development

I am pleased to be able to support Fern Creek Landcare and to pass on the following information aboutleader development training being offered in early 2020.

Fern Creek Landcare will provide team leader training over four sessions starting in January 2020 to enable any team member of supporter to learn how to conceive, develop and promote a Landcare Project and how to manage, enthuse and lead a project team.



WHERE

WHEN

18th January 2020 Teams of 3-4 are to start developing project ideas

Peter Dalton, once an architect, once a social planner, always a project manager, an award winning author, a bit of a poet andan enthusiast for all creatures, plants and the energy of this fabulous planet.

Topic: How to establish a vision for the project, the evolution of vision:opportunities out of left field, seeking expertise, enthusing the team, knowing your team, recruiting, finding the money, negotiating with bureaucracy, insurance, the long haul.



Chris Whackett, Hunter Project Manager for Toolijooa Environmental Restoration who has over a decade of bush regeneration experience in a variety of habitats across NSW.

Topic: Learning on the job, building strength for the long haul, calculating the work load and the budget, the tribulation of weather, species and soil, working with commercial imperatives, safety & tools.



8th February 2020

Darren Hall, former Landscape designer andcontractor, former NSW Department of Environment plant disease specialist, Local Government Bush Regeneration Project Manager, 12 years with WIRES Central Coast with focus on squirrel gliders, possums andwombats.

Topic:Working with the limited skills of volunteers, working in the Council environment, seeking the right education, training and skills, planning a project, safety andtools.



Jason Peters, horticulturist and bush regenerator, formerly Australian Eco Gardens Landscaper, mentor for Fern Creek Gully Landcare, WA Mountain Bike Trail Construction Project Manager, Site Supervisor Civil Lake Catchment Management Stabilisation.

Topic:The advantage of an Horticultural education, the benefits of shear enthusiasm and optimism, adapting to a variety of job opportunities, building practical & certifiable skills, planning a project, catchment management stabilisation, safety & tools.



22nd February 2020

Bob Denham, former Ranger and Manager for National Parks NSW andParks Victoria, current NSW Department of Environment Team Leader mapping all of NSW vegetation.

Topic:A broader perspective: from Landcare to Regions and States, working in State Government, building a species knowledge base, managing andrecruiting complex teams, safety and tools.



Adrian Boss, retired Town Planner, once NSW Department of Planning Western NSW Planning Manager, cyclist enthusiastic andProject Manager for Cycling without Age andenthusiastic supporter of Landcare.

Topic:Town Planning legislation andthe environment, negotiating through the maze of planning legislation and State andLocal Government bureaucracy, lessons from organising at a State and National level for an innovative programme (Cycling without Age).



7th March 2020 7am to 9.30am

Project Presentations by Teams: 10 minute presentation of what, where, how andstrategies for success. Review andassessment by all professionals & by all the group followed by presentation of Certificates of Achievement.
