I have been in Canberra today on a quick visit to meet with Amanda Rishworth MP. Amanda is the Shadow Minister for Early Childhood Education and Development and Shadow Minister for Youth.
Amandahas a Federal country-wide perspective on early childhood learning and it was good to be able to brief her on issues that are emerging in NSW, and to hear from her about matters that are affecting early childhood learning nationally.
It is great to have a Federal colleague who is as passionate as I am about supporting early learning educators and sustaining and developing further the quality of education for our children.
I was also pleased to have the opportunity to catch up with my Labor colleague Pat Conroy MP in Parliament House. Pat's Federal electorate of Shortland overlaps with the State Electorate of Charlestown.
Pat has been busy hosting Pacific leaders who are in Canberra this week, in his role as Shadow Minister for International Development and the Pacific and as Co-Convenor of the Parliamentary Friends of our Pacific Family.
We were able to grab some time to talk about some of the local issues that concern us both. Pat is a great advocate at the macro and micro level, both championing our partnership for justice with our Pacific neighbours as well as campaigning for local issues that affect people in our local community.
