The Berejiklian Liberal Government is spending more than $6.4 million on consultancies for TAFE NSW, including $1.4 million to McKinsey & Company to tell TAFE NSW managers the purpose of TAFE.
Thats nearly $74,000 a week over the life of the contract to tell TAFE NSW what their purpose is and to develop possible policy options for a sustainable funding model, which is code for a sell-off.
I join with my Labor colleague Jihad Dib MP,Shadow Minister for Skills and TAFE who has said:
The Government needs to explain why it is squandering millions of dollars on top end of town consultants at a time when it is cutting TAFE jobs and courses.
They need to rule out any further cuts, campus sales or, the worst possible scenario, a full scale privatisation of the TAFE system. You dont pay consultants $74,000 a week to tell you its business as usual. The community cant trust this government when it comes to TAFE and this consultants bill should set the alarm bells ringing.
Ive seen some heartless things from this Government but this is a cruel insult for the 200 families affected by the latest job cuts to now learn that millions of dollars are being spent on consultants by a Government more interested in navel gazing than in actually doing the right thing by people.
Other TAFE NSW tenders include:
$2.5 million to Hudsons RPO to provide recruitment support services to the organisation design program;
more than $1.08 million to Deloitte Access Economics Pty Ltd to produce a set of forecasts to inform TAFE about their training requirements;
$180,000 to Year 13 Pty Ltd to increase brand awareness and generate leads from high schools;
$343,585 to Insync Surveys Pty Ltd to conduct organisational culture surveys;
$165,000 to Boston Consulting Group Pty Ltd to refine the executive leadership teams roles and responsibilities to meet the TAFE NSW strategic plan;
$299,000 to ATZ Solutions for promotional products and clothing; and
More than $465,000 to Hamel Group Pty Ltd for project management and support for a range of products.
