I give notice that on the next sitting day I will move that this House:


Notes that the Sandstone report makes recommendations that the NSW Government immediately investigate a 70 minute fast rail connection between Newcastle and Sydney;
Notes that despite these recommendations and numerous calls from local members, the Government only intends to reduce journey times to two hours;
Acknowledges that the improved two hour journey time between Newcastle and Sydney is a far cry from the recommended 70 minute connection
Calls on the Minister to stop making band aid fixes to the Newcastle to Sydney train line, and invest in real speed rail which will have long-term social and economic benefits for the constituents of Charlestown.
