Grant supports vital works at Macquarie Hills Community Preschool Main Image

Macquarie Hills Community Preschool is set to receive $50,000 towards a project to shore up retaining walls on the property thanks to the NSW Government’s $37.2 million Local Small Commitments Allocation Program.

The Local Small Commitments Allocation Program will enhance local communities and provide $400,000 in benefits to people to each of the 93 NSW electorates. It will consist of over 600 small community projects, ranging from capital works, services and programs, events, supplies and equipment, charitable donations, and playground and park upgrades.

Jodie Harrison, Member for Charlestown, said Macquarie Hills Community Preschool is a much loved part of its local community.

“It provides a welcoming, caring place for children to begin their education journey,” Ms Harrison said.

“This grant will ensure that their premises will continue to be fit for purpose long into the future.”

Macquarie Hills Community Preschool management committee president Tami Hutchison said as the preschool ages, restoration works need to be completed.

“This grant is going to be used for the replacement of retaining walls. It will help extend the life of our preschool for many years to come, making it safe for our children, their families and staff,” Ms Hutchison said.The NSW Government has committed funds to the program which will help small local projects and programs that strengthen communities and provide improvements at a local level, making NSW an even better place to live.
